The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) reports that it has seized counterfeit and inferior products worth over N300 million in the last three months during its continuous enforcement activities throughout the state.
The announcement was included in a statement released on Friday by the agency’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai.
The Executive Secretary of the council, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, disclosed the amount during a staff meeting, when he assessed the agency’s recent endeavours and encouraged enhanced dedication to its mission.
Dr. Muhammad reiterated the council’s commitment to continue its efforts against the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of counterfeit and inferior goods, emphasising that transgressors would face consequences.
He moreover instructed personnel to enhance monitoring and intelligence collection to pinpoint those engaged in the trafficking of counterfeit merchandise, while guaranteeing that those apprehended are prosecuted in compliance with legal statutes.
