Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned President Bola Tinubu that disregarding the advice provided by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) could result in a “embarrassing defeat” in the 2027 election.
Frank said this in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.
The former APC leader believes that the bishops should be praised for publicly challenging the President about Nigeria’s economic problems and cautioning against any attempt to weaken Nigeria’s democracy.
“We applaud the bravery of the Catholic leaders. Religious leaders in Nigeria have not shown such bravery in a very long time. “They had the courage to face the President head-on and deliver the harsh reality,” Frank remarked.
He insisted that the President follow the bishops’ advice in order to prevent political repercussions.
“The President ought to follow their recommendations. He will avoid shame by doing this. He continued, “We expect other religious bodies to follow the example set by the Catholic leaders because these are true leaders.”
